Pacific Cinémathèque provides indispensable resources to the education professional in any field. Aside from the hands-on, on-site programs we facilitate, our Education Department also offers the following:
Private Field Trips
Showing your class a movie can have a meaningful impact — in the right setting. Contact us to arrange a private field trip to Pacific Cinémathèque, where students can watch a movie on the big-screen and take part in post-screening discussions or workshops.
Inpoint.org
Inpoint.org is a website developed by the Pacific Cinémathèque Education Department that takes you step by step through the filmmaking process. You’ll find information about every phase of production, from fundraising through genres, technical considerations, and distribution. It contains detailed how-tos, downloadable worksheets and sample videos.
History of Film Study Guides and Lesson Plans
Pacific Cinémathèque has developed a series of classroom-ready study guides (16 to 24 pages in length) on both new films and classics from the history of Canadian, Hollywood, and international cinema. Our guides are designed for teachers interested in media and film education. In many cases, they are written by teachers and developed in consultation with secondary schools to fit directly into high school curriculums.
Our 26 guides fall into three broad areas. We have a 20-guide series on the conventions, techniques and history of film; four film-specific guides; and a French and English language special edition guide for the Canadian classic The Grey Fox with an accompanying documentary video.
